If you wish to do something about spam you have received, then you should report it to the spammer's ISP. Most ISP's realise it is bad for business to have this activity on their networks and should be able to take action against the spammer.
In any case, never reply to a spam message. Replying only indicates that your e-mail address is valid and can be used for more spam.
Be very careful about submitting your e-mail address to any website, make sure you read the disclaimer or any other small print before submitting your e-mail address.
If spamming occurs "by accident" e.g by a mailgroup which has failed to note an unsubscribe message, or by a user or organisation which has inadvertently not previously acted on a request to remove a user from a mailgroup, then there could be some point in mailing to the sender - as the user may decide that it was not an intentional abuse, but merely an error in managing information flows. |
