The default file name is the file searched for if only a directory name is specified and can be changed by performing the following:

Start the Internet Service Manager ( Start - Programs - Microsoft Internet Server)

Double click on the computer name of the web server you wish to modify the default file name

Click the directories tab

At the bottom of the screen is a "Enable default document" check box, select this In the field enter a file name, e.g. index.htm.

Click OK

Stop and start the server you just updated

Close the Internet Service Manager
